Manifesto
Restoring Dreamland is important because it is an iconic landmark of Margate, which can be utilised to reengage the community and build new relationships. The open space will connect different age groups through creative activities, focusing on bringing younger and older generations together, who don’t often have the opportunity too. Working with local schools and organisations will be essential to run these art workshops. The art workshops will be across several disciplines, as well as music workshops. Some activities will highlight the heritage of not only the site Dreamland, but the history of Margate. It is important for young people to understand the historical context around them, that they are growing up in.
By creating an informal space for these interactions and conversations, skills and memories can be shared across generations of Margate. Also by bringing together often marginalised groups of people, it will combat feelings of loneliness and establish a sense of community. Community engagement is important because it can lead positive changes and creates better experiences in the town
